How does this actually reduce file size?
Each page is re-rendered as a compressed JPEG image and rebuilt into a new PDF. This works best on image-heavy or scanned PDFs — for text-only documents it can sometimes increase size, since the text becomes an image and is no longer using efficient text encoding.
Will the text still be selectable/searchable afterward?
No — since compression converts each page to an image, the output PDF is not searchable and text can't be selected or copied. If you need to keep it searchable, don't compress it.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No, compression happens entirely in your browser.
